Little Tinkers Jewellery and Gifts

I was shopping in the Grand Arcade in Cambridge recently and I spotted a little stall full of enticing looking things.

Little Tinkers sells all sorts of handmade and hand painted floral jewellery and the most adorable little sculpted animal necklaces and charms.

I picked out some rose earrings, a silver rose necklace, and an elephant charm for my bag. I may or may not have also bought some other items as gifts for people!

As well as having really lovely items, Little Tinkers also offers that little bit something extra in the way of service. The  items were all packed into little decorated bags, and then put into one paper bag with a little chocolate inside. It made me feel really special and valued as a customer.

If you want to find out more about Little Tinkers you can visit them on Facebook: Little Tinkers (Gifts).

Huge Beauty & Clothing Haul

I just got back from a very hectic day’s shopping in Cambridge, so as I am settling down to drink a delicious Very Very Berry tea from Whittards, I thought I’d do a little haul post. The things I am showing you today weren’t all from the same day, because I don’t think I have the shopping stamina from that!

First up, some beauty bits I got from Boots!

I picked up another of the Real Techniques Expert Face brushes, because they are so amazing, and some tights because you can’t have too many pairs of tights.  I got some of the Champneys emery boards because they are just the texture I look for, and my old Body Shop emery boards are rather well worn now.

Makeup wise I went a bit crazy at the Rimmel stand – I got two more of the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers (Shooting Star which is a nude and Luna which is a peachy colour). I also bought two of the Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner pencils in black and brown because they seemed nice and soft and easy to use (and I am an eyeliner junkie). Finally, I picked up one of the Bourjois Erasable Liners, because who doesn’t want an eyeliner they can erase?!

Moving on to clothes now, and we’ll start with Accessorize where I replaced my old worn out flip flops with two new pairs. I adore the beading on the right hand pair.

I bought another of the Bravissimo pyjama tops because their hidden support is amazing.

In Dorothy Perkins I bought the most beautiful dress in the whole world which I CANNOT WAIT to wear, and a sweet butterfly printed t-shirt.

That picture brings me on nicely to Topshop where I bought my first pair of Jamie high waisted, ankle grazers. Before I have always had Baxter jeans, but I am getting fed up of having to keep pulling them up, so I decided to give the Jamies a go, and I loved the fit.

This next dress is from Next and I bought it a while ago, but I adore it so much I thought I would include it. It’s a really flattering shape and just the cutest summer print. I also bought a plain grey vest top for the gym, but it’s not very exciting so I haven’t photographed it.

I got one of the fab H&M lightweight summer hoodies in a lovely burgundy colour.

Finally, I got some new sports clothes from Sports Direct – Nike three quarter length trousers and La Gear shorts.

Kimberley Wilson Jewellery

An email dropped into my inbox recently from a lovely lady called Kimberley Wilson. She has been making jewellery as a hobby for years and recently started selling it on Etsy. I had a quick look and instantly loved loads of her pieces, so she sent me some to try.

I picked this gorgeous purple beaded bracelet with silver butterfly charm, and these adorable little key shaped earrings*. They arrived in a cute little purple bag and within a day or two of Kimberley posting them. The jewellery is good quality and looks great on, I am really pleased with it! I honestly think it is excellent value for money too. The earrings would have been £1.50 which is crazy cheap considering you could get similar items from high street stores for three times that.

Kimberly has lots of lovely items on her Etsy store. Here are some of my favourites:

Pink Charm Bracelet

Sterling Silver Butterfly Necklace

Hot Pink Bag Charm

Bumble Bee Earrings

Wired Together

I really suggest you go and check out Kimberley’s store. You can also read more about her on her new blog.

*These items were sent to me to try, but all the opinions given are my own honest thoughts.

Haul: Hollister, Boots and Body Shop

I had another cheeky trip to the shops at the weekend so I thought I’d share what I bought with you. I know how you all love a good haul.

One of the main reasons I went to the shops was to go to Hollister to buy a new hoody. My old one has decided not to stay zipped up anymore. It sort of slides back down as you walk or move. I had set myself a tricky task it seems because all the summer stuff was out, so I didn’t have a lot of choice. Unfortunately, no one has told the weather that it’s summer, hence why I need a hoody.

Anyway I manged to find a nice tight fitting navy hoody. It has a fluffy lining making it feel super cosy, like a warm cuddle. The only thing I don’t like is the sequins spelling out California. I think i might unpick them. What do you think?

The other reason I went to the shops was to get some bits from Boots. In particular, a new wash bag because I haven’t brought any to Cambridge and now I find I need one for a trip to London. I bought one large one for general toiletries and a smaller one for makeup. I also bought some of the usual miniatures you need for a trip away.

However, as always I am unable to take a trip to Boots without stopping to get some makeup. I was instantly attracted to the L’Oréal Colour Riche Smokey Eye Quad palettes – all the colours you need in one compact. Gorgeous packaging too. I bought the shade Nude Lingerie. Finally, I was queueing for the till when I spotted the Benefit Happy Beauty Day box of miniatures. It was £9.50 for miniature sample sizes of the Porefessional primer, BADgal mascara and Posie Tint blush. I had wanted to try the Porefessional in particular for ages so I thought, oh what the hell, I’m going to get this set!

Lastly, I accidentally found myself in Body Shop and went a little bit mad. I bought a bunch of new things to try – Satsuma Body Polish, Vitamin E SPF 15 Moisture Lotion, and Early Harvest Raspberry Eau de Toilette (which smells incredible)  – as well as some new exfoliating gloves. I also bought myself another oil for my oil burner because I am obsessed with it at the moment. I went with Pomegranate and Raspberry which smells so fruity and delicious.

After lunch in Pret a Manger and stocking up on wedding magazines I dragged myself home feeling very successful!  Have you spotted any things you’d like to try?

Easter Gift Ideas

Easter is not so far away now and if, like me, you gave something up for lent, you will probably be pretty excited. Of course Easter is the time we give chocolate eggs as gifts, but it’s worth remembering that there are lots of other things you can give as gifts at Easter time. Here are some of those, along with some more unusual ways of giving chocolate.

Lush Carrot Gift Set

Lush has some really awesome Easter bath goodies, and this set contains some of my favourites. The Golden Egg especially smells absolutely heavenly.

Yankee Candle Spring Votive Set

Candles make great gifts and you can’t beat Yankee Candle for quality. Yankee Candle actually have two specific Easter scents, but I find them super sickly and unappealing. These spring floral smells are much nicer as they are really fresh and really bring spring alive in your room. Pink Hibisucs especially is a gorgeous scent, and luckily you get two of those!

Hotel Chocolat Egg and Chips

As well as their fantastic Easter eggs, Hotel Chocolat has some really unusual Easter chocolate. I love this fun egg and chips set. It has a  white chocolate and vanilla egg with a soft caramel yolk and milk chocolate, caramel-filled chips. Yum!

Creme Egg Tree

It’s a tree made of Cadbury’s Creme Eggs, what more do I need to say? This would be perfect for the Creme Egg fiend in your life. It comes in four different sizes, holding from 22 to 100 Creme Eggs!

Easter Bunny Fairy Lights

I think these bunny lights are super adorable and would really add a fun Easter touch to your bedroom or living your. I love the idea of presenting them in a bowl of hay like this (although keep an eye on them!) or you could hang them up.

Carrot Whisk

If you have a keen baker to buy for, what about this quirky carrot shaped whisk. It would make a really fun, unusual gift.

Easter Jewellery

Jewellery is a great Easter gift and I would highly recommend checking out Neat Eats on Etsy for some unusual ideas. I can vouch for them being excellent quality. Two of my favourites from the Easter collection are the birds nest eggs and the hot cross bun ring.

Majestical Jewellery Review and Giveaway

Today I am sharing my excitement in a new online jewellery company I have discovered: Majestical*. They have a wonderful mix of different items, from silver and pearl jewellery, to charms and statement necklaces. Majestical sent me this adorable little pair of Daisy Earrings to try. They are really perfect for spring and are really versatile for different outfits. They are pretty clever, as the white “petals” seem to be layered over one another for a very natural effect. As you will see from the pictures, they don’t pull on your ears too much, and they sit in a nice position. I’d have been happy to pay $12 for these.

Although a lot of Majestical’s jewellery is lovely, I think where they really come into their own is statement necklaces. The current collection is just fabulous and there are some truly gorgeous pieces. Here are a few I am lusting after. I think the first one will find it’s way into my online shopping basket pretty soon!

A little life update and haul

Life has been unbelievably hectic for me recently. My Instagram and Twitter followers will already know that I moved house (again!) halfway down the country and have been very busy with work and attending my university course. Luckily my blog hasn’t suffered too much because I had plenty of posts scheduled ahead of time, but I haven’t been as active in reading and commenting on other people’s posts as I would like to have been.

Today’s post is a few photos which might interest/amuse you and also a mini haul of goodies I bought before I left Manchester. The shops are infinitely better than where I moved to. Although I now work in London, I really don’t have time to shop there, more’s the pity!

First thing’s first, the only thing which has got me through the past few weeks has been a caffeine and sugar fix in the form of Pumpkin Spice lattes from Starbucks. I only tried one for the first time this October and I have now had more than I am willing to admit to! I have to say they don’t remind me of pumpkin much, but I do still love their warm, spiced cinnamon-ey goodness.

Now for my mini haul! Firstly, I went to Sports Direct to find some trainers. This isn’t exactly the most exciting thing I could be buying, but it’s still pretty essential! My old ones were tatty and well-worn and needed replacing.

I then went to Topshop to replace my old worn-out jeans. Are you spotting a trend here? I am a huge fan of the Baxter style of jeans. If you haven’t seen these, they are essentially a hybrid between skinny and straight-leg jeans. I find them super flattering because the slight bunched up wider fabric at the ankle balances out the thigh area in a way truly skinny jeans don’t. I ended up buying the Baxter jeans in a usual light blue denim and the dark blue/navy denim as well. On my way to the checkout I also picked up a cute little blue vest top.

I noticed that Boux Avenue has recently opened in the Arndale Centre in Manchester so I’m afraid it was compulsory for me to pop in and check it out. I ended up buying a selection of pretty knickers, but I shan’t be showing you because some things should stay private! I finished up my day at Bravissimo. It was the first time I have had a bra fitting there and it definitely won’t be the last. If you struggle to find your size in ‘normal’ high street shops, I really suggest you try it. There was so much choice and the assistant was so helpful that it was my least stressful bra shopping experience ever! I also picked up one of their hidden support PJ tops which is so comfy!

Finally I’m going to finish a snap I took mid-way through my packing. Despite having done my best to throw out old, worn clothes and shoes and taken as much winter stuff to my parents before-hand as I could, I seem to have acquired a great in the time I was in Manchester. Still, we got it all in the car okay and it is now sitting in the hallway and in my bedroom in boxes and bags, begging to be unpacked!

Early Autumn Haul: Bravissimo, Primark, Schuh and H&M

I found myself at a bit of a loose end the other day, so I did what any girl in my position would do… I went shopping! I know loads of you nosy inquisitive people like me enjoying haul posts, so I thought I’d share my purchases with you!

I started at Bravissimo on the hunt for a pretty yet supportive bikini. It’s a bit of an odd time of year to be doing that I guess, but you get pretty good deals if you are buying towards the end of the summer/early autumn as most of the summer stock is in the sale. I tried several styles until I found one that I thought suited me best. There was a choice of larger high waisted bottoms or small stringy ones. As I already have several string style bikinis, I went for the high waisted ones as a bit of a change.

I then went to H&M on the hunt for pretty trousers. I love jeans but sometimes you just want something a bit comfier. I spotted these printed trousers instantly because I love anything with a fun print. I really like the fit and they feel so comfy. They fit like leggings but are thick enough that you don’t need to worry about the dreaded VPL (that’s visible panty line in case you don’t know!). As I was walking to the changing rooms these tops jumped out at me. They fit really beautifully and I love the lace at the top. It adds some effortless glam. These will be perfect for so many occasions and I’m excited to wear them.

In Primark I spotted a really lovely loose knitted cardigan which I thought would be a perfect alternative to the knitted jumpers I usually reach for in the autumn. I love a good jumper but it’s often such a shame to cover up your pretty top underneath. On the way to the checkout I spotted a selection of snoods and I thought it was about time I tried one. I’m looking forward to accessorising my outfits with this snood this autumn.

As the afternoon drew to a close I finished my trip in Schuh on the hunt for new Keds as mine are decidedly battered and full of holes now! I went in planning to buy pale grey ones. Unfortunately, Schuh seems to have dramatically reduced it’s stock of Keds in favour of loads more Vans so they didn’t have any. However, they did have several different Keds from the Taylor Swift at Keds range. I loved these rose print ones so much that I decided I had to have them. Okay, so they aren’t exactly the sensible, versatile grey pair I was after, but as the shop assistant said, I’d have been thinking about the rose print ones for weeks after if I didn’t get them!

Red Herring leatherette floral embellished ballet flat shoes

These beautiful flats are from Red Herring in Debenhams. They were £22 each, although I believe they are currently £16.50 in the sale. As you can see, I liked them so much that I bought both colours!

I usually struggle with flats because I have quite wide feet and flats and pumps usually rub my feet quite badly. I was desperate to find some comfy flats for summer that would be suitable for both causal wear and work.

I spotted the cream pumps first. I adore the little black and silver flower details. To my delight, I discovered that these shoes are actually really comfy. The “leatherette” material is really supple and soft so the shoes don’t rub the backs of your ankles.

I’m really excited to wear these shoes now. Let me know if you have any suggestions of outfits I could wear them with!
